GINGER ROOT: Include in Smoothies Daily for Immune Defense

One of the ingredients that I have been adding to my daily smoothies is GINGER ROOT.  During these winter months, we are constantly trying to protect ourselves from those rotten cold and flu germs!  We need to build up our defense system.  I cannot emphasize more how important it is to consume nutrition-packed foods filled with vitamins to protect from those rotten germs.  I understand that this is the time for holiday party after holiday party, but we must understand that germs do not care what our social status is, how much money we make or even how good we think we are taking care of ourselves.  Germs thrive in environments where there is little to no army to fight them off; they have a very powerful army and they will take us down whenever they feel the time is right.

My husband, too has been doing great with his immune health.

True Green Machine Smoothie: Immune Strength

Are you feeling under-the-weather or feel the onset of a bug coming on?  You need a smoothie for immune strength!

  • Spirulina (serving size as directed bottle) **
  • Chlorella (serving size as directed on bottle) **
  • Fresh Baby Spinach - large handful

The True Green Machine Smoothie

Lately, I have altered the way I make my smoothies.  Surely you all have heard of a green machine smoothie!  Well, I have taken green smoothies to a whole new level!  For a short period of time, I decided to go strict vegan, but after much research, I found out that excluding red meat and other animal products from my diet could put me at risk of anemia.  Well, this post is not about anemia nor being vegan, so I will not get into it!  I have had many "green machine" smoothies in the many years I have been making and consuming smoothies.  My favorite "green machine"...and of course one of the more delicious ones:
  • kale
  • honeydew melon
  • kiwi
  • cucumbers
  • green grapes
  • spinach
I have taken the "green machine" smoothie-making to whole new level that some may have never been and some may never go!!  I call it the "True Green Machine Smoothie".  It is amazing and yes, I do feel energized after having one!  These are my main ingredients and you can use any form of dark, dense, leafy green.  Kale and dandelions are some of the highest in nutritional value in the raw form.  I do not care what anyone says, but this is the "true green machine" smoothie!!  Blending these dense, rich ingredients together makes for a powerful smoothie - THANK YOU Blendtec for creating an amazing product that enables me and my family to make drinks like the pros!

My husband and I have made this a part of our daily routine!  It gives us an awesome boost, whether we have it for breakfast or lunch.  The smoothie is packed with the best vitamins and minerals that can help keep you going for hours!  

How did I get this idea?  Well, after going vegan for a little while, I was strict about my food intake - no processed foods and no sweets of any kind; just all-natural food.  So, I had fruit as my dessert instead of mixing with smoothie!  I stopped mixing excessive amounts of fruit with my smoothie because I wanted to sit down and enjoy something that would take the place of a dessert.  Of course, I realized I still needed to be drinking my smoothies, but without the fruits to sweeten it up.  It was starting to bother me because I was having to add large amounts of fruit to sweeten up my smoothie to alter the taste.

How does it taste?  Truthfully - you can taste the greens, but so worth it!!  In order to handle this smoothie, you have to want to taste greens!  Make sure you have some chasers, if you do not think you can handle the taste.  A really good chaser for me is fresh papaya chunks drizzled with lemon or lime!
